Good Sportsmanship – This is a great community of cosplayers who support each other, and is more important than ever to cheer for everyone. We ask that you show grace in accepting the judges’ decisions and show support for any fellow competitors. Anyone found harassing any competitor will be disqualified and banned from future contests, and even potentially the event itself, per the harassment policy.
Sandbagging- If you have won a major award (Best In Show, Best Craftsmanship, etc) in this cosplay, you may not enter the winning cosplay. Cosplays that have won minor awards, such as Honorable Mentions, may enter if you have noted it in your application, and if you have made significant changes or improvements to the cosplay since the win.
No Call, No Show Policy – We understand that sometimes life can get in the way of attending conventions or participating in the contest. We ask that you simply show courtesy for our time and let us know if you’ll be unable to participate, within reason. We will begin to keep note of individuals who fail to inform us, and those who show a consistent habit of this will be warned and potentially banned from competing in future contests.
CONTEST GUIDELINES
Appropriate Attire – As this is a family-friendly event, we ask that you make sure you’re following Lake George Game Expo’s Cosplay/Weapons Policy. Shoes must be worn at all times, and all appropriate areas should be covered one way or another.
Weapons- Please make sure to review Lake George Game Expo’s Cosplay/Weapons Policy. No Live Steel, No Projectiles. In short, please ensure that your prop is not able to cause serious harm to anyone. When walking the contest, DO NOT point your weapon into the audience or at any person.
Three Poses – We need to see your cosplay, which means we need more stage time from YOU! Please prepare three poses for your runway walk – a demonstration will be shown by one of our staff on where to go on stage to pose!
Groups- Cosplay Groups may be up to 6 cosplayers; only one application form needs to be filled out by each group. Groups will no longer be able to add new members one hour before the start of the contest, to allow proper time to organize. If you fill out an application and then decide to form a group, just let us know!
Craftsmanship- While not mandatory, we encourage folks to enter cosplays that are more than just store-bought outfits. We want to see your creativity, whether through thrifting, sewing, prop building, wig styling, etc!
